Boeing's 'grass roots' political group invites members

Boeing employees can get involved in the U.S. political process through the Boeing Government Action Network (BGAN), a group of employees, retirees and suppliers who voluntarily contact their elected officials about issues affecting Boeing.

The network isn't a political action committee and doesn't support one political party over another, said Meggan Abboud, director of Boeing Constituent Relations at the Washington, D.C., Operations Office. BGAN doesn't advise employees what to say, but leaves it up to each individual, based on the information provided. "Citizens have the power to affect government policies," she said. "It's virtually impossible for legislators to stay current on all of the issues important to the general public. For this reason, they often rely on what they hear from constituents, and nobody knows more about Boeing than its own employees, suppliers and retirees."
