MCDONNELL DOUGLAS NAMES BOB BRAND AND MARK SCHROEDER
TO EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT POSITIONS

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 16, 1997 -- McDonnell Douglas today announced two new executive assignments at its defense division and corporate office.

Robert L. Brand, 59, has been named vice president/general manager-business management for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace, effective Feb. 1. He replaces Bill Austin who is leaving McDonnell Douglas after six years with the company.

Brand will become chief financial officer for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace, the corporation's largest business unit. He will report to Harry C. Stonecipher, McDonnell Douglas' president and chief executive officer who is the acting president of McDonnell Douglas Aerospace, as well as James F. Palmer, senior vice president and McDonnell Douglas' chief financial officer.

Brand has served as vice president and controller of McDonnell Douglas Corp. since 1992. He began his career with McDonnell Douglas in 1972 and has held numerous positions in the finance division, including manager of accounting operations and practices, director of accounting and controller, and vice president of business management for McDonnell Douglas Missile Systems Co.

Prior to joining McDonnell Douglas, Brand was vice president of finance for Meyer Labs Inc., controller for St. Louis Shoe Corp. and supervisor with Ernst & Young.

Brand, a native of St. Louis, holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Missouri, and is a certified public accountant.

Replacing Bob Brand as vice president and controller is Mark Schroeder, 39, director of accounting for the corporation.

As controller, he will be responsible for government accounting, payroll and pensions, taxes and financial reporting. He will report to James F. Palmer.

Schroeder joined McDonnell Douglas in 1992 as director of internal audit. Prior to McDonnell Douglas, Schroeder was employed for 13 years with Ernst & Young in St. Louis.

Schroeder, a certified public accountant, is a native of Belleville, Ill. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
