Boeing Employees Help Missouri Flood Victims

ST. LOUIS, May 10, 2000 -- The Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis will provide $15,000 to the American Red Cross to help Missouri residents affected by recent floods in the St. Louis area. The ECF grant will be augmented by a $5,000 donation from the Boeing-McDonnell Foundation. Boeing is one of Missouri's largest private employers.

The Red Cross will use the funds to help people who have been displaced or are in need of other assistance as a result of the floods.

"These devastating floods have affected many of our employees and countless others," said Evans Richardson, director of Government and Community Relations and president of the Employees Community Fund. "Our hearts go out to those who have been affected, and we hope this donation from the employees of Boeing will help ease some of their hardship as they start rebuilding their homes, their communities and their lives."

Since 1947, Boeing employees have given money to organizations such as the Red Cross through a payroll deduction plan. All funds raised by the Employees Community Fund of Boeing St. Louis go to charitable organizations where employees live and work. In 1999, the Employees Community Fund donated $2.3 million to 191 St. Louis-area charities and community services.
