SEATTLE, Dec. 20, 1996 - The Boeing Company today announced plans to construct a new Boeing Commercial Airplane Group headquarters building, moving from the current site on the south end of Lake Washington in Renton to Longacres Park, also in Renton. The 300,000 square foot building will house such organizations as Executive Offices, Sales, Contracts, Legal, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications. Approximately 800 people will occupy the new building. Design of the new building is expected to begin in January 1997. Preparation of the 12-acre site will begin in April 1997, with completion scheduled for October 1998. The new building will be located on the eastern perimeter of the Boeing Longacres park site, south of the Boeing Customer Services Training Center. The decision to move BCAG headquarters to Longacres Park was made as part of the company's ongoing evaluation of its long-term, company-wide facilities requirements, according to Art Carter, vice president of Facilities. "Our goal is to ensure that Boeing has the proper size and types of properties and facilities needed to support its business requirements in the next 20 years and beyond, " Carter said. Longacres Park, which Boeing acquired in 1990, is located near SeaTac International Airport, with convenient access for both employees and customers to both Interstates 5 and 405. Major project partners include LMN Architects, Sverdrup Civil, Baugh Construction, MacDonald-Miller Company and Cochran Electrical. |
