Boeing Employee Receives "Silver Snoopy" Award
COCOA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 5, 1996 - The NASA Space Flight Awareness
(SFA) "Silver Snoopy" award has been awarded to Boeing Aerospace Operations
Inc. employee Ronald Buckley, in a surprise visit from astronaut Pam Melroy.
Melroy visited Buckley in Boeing Oct. 24 to present the "Silver Snoopy"
pin, which was flown on space shuttle Columbia on Oct. 18, 1993.
The "Silver Snoopy" is the NASA astronauts' personal achievement award
for outstanding and exemplary work for individuals from either government
or the industry in support of the space flight program.
"Ron plays a key role in assuring that the closed circuit TV units support
astronaut crews aboard the space shuttle," said Richard Burns, Boeing Flight
Equipment Processing Contract KSC Operations manager. "Ron is a dedicated
and conscientious employee and I am very glad he has received this award."
The NASA SFA program was created to instill in all personnel an awareness
of their personal responsibility for assuring mission success and the exemplary
performance necessary to achieve that success.
