COVER: The 747-8 Freighter passes near Mount Rainier in Washington state during its first flight on Feb. 8. The newest member of Boeing’s 747 family took off from Paine Field in Everett, Wash., and followed a route that kept it over Western Washington. During the more than three-hour flight, the 747-8 reached a cruising altitude of 17,000 feet (5,181 meters). This picture was taken from a chase plane by Boeing photographer Leo Dejillas. |
