ABOUT THE COVER: On the overcast and occasionally rainy morning of Dec. 15, 2009, several thousand Boeing employees had a front-row seat to history at Paine Field in Everett, Wash. Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Pacific time, they cried, cheered and took countless pictures with all kinds of cameras held high as the 787 Dreamliner lifted off for the first time. Among them was Scott Wierenga, an engineer on the 787 Interiors integration team, who took this picture.
