F/A-22 MAKES SEATTLE DEBUT

A U.S. Air Force F/A-22 Raptor flying over the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems Military Flight Center in SeattleA U.S. Air Force F/A-22 Raptor toured the Puget Sound region by air May 13 before landing for the first time in Seattle. Several hundred Boeing employees who work on the F/A-22 welcomed the plane to Boeing Field.

The Raptor, flown from Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., by Boeing test pilot Randy Neville, remained on static display May 14 and 15, where it was viewed by hundreds of F/A-22 and Boeing Integrated Defense Systems employees and their families. The display was the Air Force's way of recognizing the more than 1,000 Boeing employees in Seattle who work on the F/A-22 program.

"This was a well-deserved opportunity for employees to see the plane they've helped build," said Bob Barnes, Boeing vice president and F/A-22 program manager.

Teamed with Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney to design and build the F/A-22 for the Air Force, Boeing has lead responsibility for the training system, as well as for manufacturing the Raptor wings and aft fuselage and integrating and testing its advanced avionics.
