Advanced Information Systems


Headquartered in Anaheim and Huntington Beach, California, our Advanced Information Systems develops and integrates a wide range of systems employing core competencies in the areas of information systems, communications, signal processing, command and control, autonomous system technologies and marine systems, in support of government and commercial customers.


Apache


The combat-proven AH-64D Apache Longbow is the newest version of the combat-proven AH-64A Apache and is fulfilling the attack helicopter and reconnaissance requirements of numerous armed forces worldwide. Apache Longbow is in production at The Boeing Company in Mesa, Arizona. Boeing is producing the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopter for the U.S. Army and other international customers. The Apache Longbow, which saw its first combat duty with the U.S. army during Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be a key component of the U.S. Army’s Future Force. The Apache Longbow features fully integrated avionics and weapons, plus state-of-the-art digital communications capabilities that enable real-time, secure transfer of battlefield information to air and ground forces. The Apache Longbow incorporates enhancements that make it more survivable in combat, readily deployable and easier to maintain. Apache will be the first Army aviation platform to network and connect to the Global Information Grid.


Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3) and Strategic Systems


Headquartered in Anaheim and Huntington Beach, California, BMC3 and Strategic Systems is a recognized leader in intercontinental ballistic missile systems, precision naval navigation products and electronic products and sensor systems.


Boeing Commercial Airplane Programs


Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Boeing Commercial Airplanes is constantly developing the next breakthrough in safer, more economical and more comfortable flight. Boeing’s decades of leadership in the manufacture of commercial jetliners has brought the world the 737, 747, 767, 777 and the Boeing Business Jet. New product development efforts are focused on the 747-8 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.


The 747-8


The 747-8 continues the 747 family legacy by integrating advanced technology into one of the world's most modern and fuel-efficient airplanes. The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental and 747-8 Freighter are the new high-capacity 747s that offer airlines the lowest operating costs and best economics of any large passenger or freighter airplane.


The Boeing Dreamliner Family


Boeing Commercial Airplanes' new Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a super-efficient airplane, developed by an international team of top aerospace companies, led by Boeing at its Everett facility near Seattle, Wash. The 787-8 Dreamliner will carry 210 - 250 passengers on routes of 7,650 to 8,200 nautical miles, while the 787-9 Dreamliner will carry 250 - 290 passengers on routes of 8,000 to 8,500 nautical miles. A third 787 family member, the 787-3 Dreamliner, will accommodate 290 - 330 passengers and be optimized for routes of 2,500 to 3,050 nautical miles. The airplane will use 20 percent less fuel for comparable missions than today's similarly sized airplane. It will also travel at speeds similar to today's fastest wide bodies, Mach 0.85. Boeing has announced that as much as 50 percent of the primary structure -- including the fuselage and wing -- on the 787 will be made of composite materials.


Boeing Rotorcraft Systems


Boeing Rotorcraft Systems is a world leader in the rotorcraft industry, specializing in designing, developing and manufacturing transport and combat helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft, including Apache, Chinooks and V-22 Ospreys. More than 4,800 employees at each of two Rotorcraft sites comprise the team in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Mesa, Arizona. The AH-64D Apache Longbow is the world’s most capable attack helicopter and sets the standard for combat rotorcraft. The CH-47 Chinook tandem rotor helicopter has been a reliable workhorse around the globe for decades. The V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft is redefining military rotorcraft mission capabilities and began service in 2007.


Rotorcraft Systems also designs and integrates advanced avionics and electronic flight-control systems for rotorcraft, designing, developing and fabricating all-composite airframes and rotor blades.


In addition, the integrated team in Philadelphia and Mesa performs independent and funded research and development on a variety of systems and processes applicable to military rotorcraft. Rotorcraft Systems has programs and products in nearly every industry sector. It has long held the lead among producers of large transport helicopters.


C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP)


The C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP) will modernize a portion of the C-130 tactical airlift fleet. C-130 modernization first modernizes the avionics “package” in all C-130s to meet Global Air Traffic Management and communications/navigation safety requirements, implements an “open systems” avionics architecture and standardizes the avionics configuration (C-130 AMP).


C-17


The multi-role C-17 has proven itself as a versatile strategic and theater airlifter in every recent worldwide operation. It is able to deliver large, heavy payloads across transcontinental distances into small austere airfields. Boeing is the prime contractor for the C-17, located in Long Beach, California.


Commercial Aviation Services


Based in Seattle, Washington, our devotedly customer-oriented Commercial Aviation Services provides the highest level of 24/7 technical support, as well as engineering, modification, logistical, training and informational assistance, to secure the quality performance of our passenger and cargo airplanes. We also offer world-class maintenance, repair and overhaul services to assure the satisfaction of our global customer base.


EA-18G


The EA-18G is the U.S. Navy’s selected platform to replace the EA-6B Prowler Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) aircraft. A variant of the U.S. Navy F/A-18F two-crew strike fighter, the EA-18G combines the combat-proven F/A-18F strike fighter with the proven Improved Capability III (ICAP III) AEA avionics suite.


F/A-18


The combat-proven F/A-18 Hornet is a single- and dual-seat, twin-engine multi-mission tactical aircraft. It is the first tactical aircraft designed from its inception to carry out both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.


F/A-22


Boeing is teamed with Lockheed Martin, Pratt & Whitney and the U.S. Air Force to develop the F/A-22 Raptor as a replacement for the F-15. The fast, agile, stealthy F/A-22 has taken over the air superiority role with the Air Combat Command.


F-15 Eagle


The E, which will be in the USAF inventory well into the 21st century, is the latest F-15 produced by Boeing workers in St. Louis, Missouri. It’s the world’s leading dual-role fighter, performing air-to-ground and air-to-air missions with unmatched success. Boeing has assembled F-15Es for the USAF and is working on additional aircraft.


Future Combat Systems


The Future Combat System program is the centerpiece of a transformation to a lightweight, rapidly deployable and network-centric force able to respond to conflicts anywhere in the world within 96 hours.


Global Positioning System (GPS)


Navstar GPS is a satellite-based radio navigation system developed and operated by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). GPS permits land, sea and airborne users to instantaneously determine their three-dimensional position, velocity and time 24-hours a day, under all weather conditions, anywhere in the world.


Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD)


The Boeing Company, as the GMD prime contractor, is developing the GMD elements: Ground-Based Interceptor, X-Band Radars, Battle Management, Command, Control and Communications, Upgraded Early Warning Radars and interfaces to Space-Based Infrared Systems satellites.


International Space Station


As the prime contractor, Boeing is responsible for design, development, construction and integration of the International Space Station (ISS), and the overwhelming success of the ISS Program has further substantiated Boeing’s core competency as a large-scale system integrator.


Military Aerospace Support


Military services around the world are facing new challenges in supporting their aerospace systems challenges in maintaining high levels of readiness and effectiveness, while decreasing total ownership costs. Only Boeing has an integrated organization to provide the full continuum of support products and services to meet those challenges head on.


Network Communications Systems


Network-enabled systems create an unprecedented enterprise environment where, in real-time, we collect and share data, turn that data into information and use that information to aid decision-making.


P-8A Poseidon


The P-8A Poseidon is the U.S. Navy’s replacement for its fleet of P-3 aircraft. The P-8A combines superior performance and reliability with an advanced mission system that ensures maximum interoperability in the future battle space. A derivative of the Next Generation 737-800, the 737 P-8A is being developed for the U.S. Navy by a Boeing-led industry team. P-8A is a long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft capable of broad-area, maritime and littoral operations.


Space and Intelligence Systems


Headquartered in Seal Beach, California, Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems (S&IS) is the Boeing Company’s center for all intelligence programs. Providing innovative system solutions for national security and space, S&IS is a leader in large-scale systems integration, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, communication systems, network systems and protection and security systems.


Space-Based Surveillance Systems (SBSS)


The SBSS is an on-orbit constellation of satellites in low-earth orbit that detect and track space objects, such as satellites or orbital debris and determine whether these objects pose a threat to U.S. space assets. The Department of Defense will utilize data generated by SBSS to support military operations. Additionally, NASA could use the information to plan avoidance measures for the International Space Station and Space Shuttle missions from orbital debris collision.


T-45 Training System


The T-45 Training System is the first totally integrated training system developed for and used by the U.S. Department of the Navy. It includes the Boeing-built T-45 Goshawk aircraft, advanced flight simulators, computer-assisted instructional programs, a computerized training integration system and a contractor logistics support package.


Transformational Space Systems


Transformational Space Systems is responsible for the development and execution of Developmental Space Control Programs, next generation space launch systems, space exploration and enabling technologies that support these programs. This organization has staff located in Southern California, Seattle and Colorado Springs. Current program activities include Space Based Space Surveillance (SBSS), Orbital Space Plane (OSP), Next Generation Launch Systems (NGLS), Orbital Express (OE) and Waverider Scramjet Engine Demonstrator programs, as well as other proprietary programs, strategic and tactical space efforts.


X-37 Reusable Spaceplane


Under a cooperative agreement with NASA signed in July 1999, Boeing is currently developing the X-37 reusable spaceplane. X-37 will serve as a test bed for 40 airframe, propulsion and operation technologies designed to make space transportation and operations significantly more affordable.
