Welliver Faculty Fellowship

How to apply

Eligibility

The Boeing Company has a strong interest in undergraduate education. The preferred applicant would be a current associate, tenured professor or international equivalent. Applicants should have at least five years of experience of full-time teaching and currently teaching undergraduate engineering/ manufacturing/ business/computer science classes at a U.S. or international university.

International applicants must be able to obtain a B-1 Visitor visa or Visa Waiver program for short term business purposes. Applicants would need to contact the US Embassy or Consulate in their home country to confirm the documentation requirements. In many cases the applicant will be asked to provide a support letter from the company to be visited in the United States. If selected as a participant, a letter will be provided by The Boeing Company for the purpose of participating in the Boeing Welliver Faculty Fellowship Program.

For assignments in the Integrated Defense Systems business unit, participants must be US citizens in order to satisfy Department of Defense facility clearance requirements. Lack of US citizenship will limit a participant's exposure within all business units in order to comply with International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other government requirements.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected using the following criteria:

  1. 1. All participants (U.S. and international) are required to have five to fifteen years of full-time teaching experience, and be currently teaching undergraduates.
  2. 2. Ability to get the complete application package in before/by the deadline (application, curriculum vita, recommendation letters no more than 20 pages in all).
  3. 3. Motivation to improve teaching and student learning.
  4. 4. Motivation to acquire a better understanding of the practice of engineering, manufacturing, business, and information technology in industry and champion undergraduate curricula improvement.
