Eligibility
The Boeing Company has a strong interest in undergraduate education. The preferred applicant would be a current associate, tenured professor or international equivalent. Applicants should have at least five years of experience of full-time teaching and currently teaching undergraduate engineering/ manufacturing/ business/computer science classes at a U.S. or international university.
International applicants must be able to obtain a B-1 Visitor visa or Visa Waiver program for short term business purposes. Applicants would need to contact the US Embassy or Consulate in their home country to confirm the documentation requirements. In many cases the applicant will be asked to provide a support letter from the company to be visited in the United States. If selected as a participant, a letter will be provided by The Boeing Company for the purpose of participating in the Boeing Welliver Faculty Fellowship Program.
For assignments in the Integrated Defense Systems business unit, participants must be US citizens in order to satisfy Department of Defense facility clearance requirements. Lack of US citizenship will limit a participant's exposure within all business units in order to comply with International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other government requirements.
Selection Criteria
Candidates will be selected using the following criteria:
- 1. All participants (U.S. and international) are required to have five to fifteen years of full-time teaching experience, and be currently teaching undergraduates.
- 2. Ability to get the complete application package in before/by the deadline (application, curriculum vita, recommendation letters no more than 20 pages in all).
- 3. Motivation to improve teaching and student learning.
- 4. Motivation to acquire a better understanding of the practice of engineering, manufacturing, business, and information technology in industry and champion undergraduate curricula improvement.
- 5. Abilities and qualifications that align to Boeing needs.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements.
- Complete and submit the "Application Form" provided on this website by December 31, 2008, U.S. Pacific Time
- The applicant must complete all applicable parts of the application
- o The following letters of recommendation must be submitted by December 31, 2008

Two required recommendation letters:
One from the dean or department chair
One from a current or previous undergraduate student. -
One optional recommendation letter:
1 from a current Boeing employee who works within a functional group that coincides with the applicant's area of interest.

Two required recommendation letters:
- The application with attachments is not to exceed 20 pages.

International Applicants:
If selected for this program, it is the responsibility of the international applicants to obtain a B-1 Visitor Visa or Visa Waiver program for short term business purposes. A Boeing invitation letter will be provided to international selectees. Applicants would need to contact the United States Embassy or Consulate in their home country to confirm the process and documentation requirements.
