EL SEGUNDO, Calif., May 13, 2002 -- Boeing Satellite Systems (BSS), a unit of The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], is among Southern California businesses honored recently for encouraging employees to use ridesharing. BSS received a Rideshare Diamond Award for its efforts to promote ridesharing within the company. The Southern California Association of Governments presented the awards in an April 23 ceremony at the Los Angeles Regal Biltmore Hotel.

BSS has promoted ridesharing among its employees for more than 20 years, and today a significant number of the company's employees take part in the rideshare program at the company's El Segundo and Torrance facilities.

The company's efforts to promote ridesharing and reduce commuter vehicle trips include:

• Providing employees with transit and vanpool subsidies
• Providing reserved parking for ridepools and vanpools
• Providing an Employee Transportation Coordinator to assist employees in joining current vanpools or starting new ones
• Maintaining an internal Commuter Services website that provides employees with updated ridesharing information on all commuting modes
• Offering a Guaranteed Ride Home incentive to all registered ridesharers
• Promoting the commuter program through frequent emails, flyers and announcements
• Providing showers, lockers and covered bike storage for bicyclists.
