Flight Testing

The 777-200LR flight-test program is now complete. The two 777-200LRs used for flight test accumulated 886 flight test hours on 328 flights, and 318 ground hours of testing. In addition, 27.8 miles of instrumentation wiring were fabricated and installed and 73 terabits (that's 73 followed by 12 zeros) of data were recorded and analyzed.

For the first time, Boeing chronicled the progress of a flight test program online with the 777-200LR. The 777-200LR Flight Test Journal is available here.

The first 777-200LR was delivered to Pakistan International Airlines in February 2006.

World Record Flight

Boeing established a new world record for distance traveled nonstop by a commercial airplane when a Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner landed at London Heathrow Airport Nov. 10, 2005. The 777-200LR flew 11,664 nautical miles (21,601 km) during its 22-hour 42-minute flight that left Hong Kong flying eastbound the evening of Nov. 9. The distance set by the 777-200LR is farther than any previous commercial jetliner has flown and exceeds a distance of more than halfway around the world.

First Flight

The first Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner, the longest range commercial airplane in the world, March 8, 2005 completed its inaugural flight. The newest member of the 777 airplane family took off at 10 a.m. Pacific from Paine Field in Everett, Wash. and landed at 1:02 p.m. at Seattle's Boeing Field. Capts. Suzanna Darcy-Hennemann, 777-200LR project pilot, and Frank Santoni, chief 777 program pilot, were at the controls.

Takeoff videos are now available. The photo gallery and news page also have both been updated.

Rollout

On February 15, 2005, the new 777-200LR (Longer Range) rolled out at a special ceremony at the factory in Everett, Wash. A highlights video is now available. We've also added a story about the local choirs that performed at the rollout event.
