My father was a Flying Fortress pilot in England during World War II. He flew 30 missions with the 447th Bomb Group. Ditched one and dead-sticked another -- meaning he landed without power -- both after missions to Berlin. Had a bomb land on his wing from a Fort that was out of formation above him. I'm alive because of his skill and the B-17's amazing survivability.
Congratulations to Boeing for your contribution to freedom's defense, and my personal thanks to the design team of Project 299, the B-17 Flying Fortress.
