In 2007, the company granted approximately $3.7 million to nonprofit organizations across the globe to support innovative environmental programs that protect vital natural assets, restore or improve critical habitats and train citizens to protect and preserve the environment.
For example, last year the company's philanthropic efforts ranged from grants for the ongoing support of the Chicago River and protection of the LaBarque Creek in Missouri to the clean-up and restoration of parks in Seattle. In Florida, the company regularly supports a nonprofit called Keep Brevard Beautiful with grants and volunteerism to assist in the clean up of more than 60 "spoil islands," home to more than 400 species of plants and animals. In London, Boeing partnered with Green Corridor to teach middle-school aged students environmental awareness by allowing them to get closer to nature through visits to the Royal Botanic Gardens and other educational activities. These activities and the many more like them that Boeing supports each year underscore the company's emphasis on environmental preservation and conservation through community involvement.
