Welcome. This web site gives you information about the 2008 labor negotiations between Boeing and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA). Managers, union-represented employees and their families can use this site as a source of updates, background on relevant issues and links to other resources.

Q. Was Boeing able to change the low-cost health plan without bargaining the change with SPEEA or the IAM?
A. Yes. Under terms of our union contracts, employees don't pay monthly contributions for the plan that has the lowest cost to the company. Each year, Boeing works with a third-party to analyze costs, and determine which plan will be offered without monthly contributions.
As a result of the most recent analysis, it was determined that employees in Puget Sound would be able to enroll in the Traditional Medical Plan in 2008 without paying monthly contributions. This is a change from the plan (Selections/Select Network) that was offered without a monthly contribution in 2007. Before making this change, we discussed it with both the IAM and SPEEA.
Yes, some employees will pay a little more because of this change. But many employees-those who currently are enrolled in the Traditional Medical Plan-could see their costs decrease slightly, as they will no longer have to pay a monthly contribution.
We believe that employees will examine the options carefully and select the plan that best fits their needs. Some will pay a little more; some will pay a little less. All will receive excellent health, dental and vision care benefits at costs that remain far below market average.
